THE YEAR OF THE JAGUAR

The 2014 F-Type

The Jaguar is a powerful breed, known for its unparalleled speed, grace and agility. The jungle cat from which it derives its name is equally impressive.

The 2014 Jaguar F-Type series of luxury performance vehicles has reclaimed its place among the powerfully sleek, sexy and technically sophisticated of the auto world. A worthy competitor to rivals Porsche 911 and Audi R8, the F-Type is the sporty persona of the former legendary E-Type Jaguar.

Billed as the “the true Jaguar sports car for tomorrow and beyond,” Jag’s road presence, technology and dexterity have set the bar for a whole new era. Offering a choice of four variants: the F-Type, F-Type S, F-Type V8S and the F-Type R, this series is far from the smooth and forgiving ride of the Jaguar XJ L in the Bond flick, Skyfall. Instead, this stealth machine challenges the road, feeling every contour and crevice to its core.

Rumour has it that the “F” in F-Type stands for feral, and rightly so. According to Jaguar Canada, “F-Type is engineered to deliver a sports car experience that is intuitive, instinctive and alive, to connect the driver with high performance and instantaneously responsive handling.  It thrives on precision input and is ready to respond, feedback and interact, placing the driver at its heart.”

Fifty years in the making since the release of its E-Type predecessor, Jaguar brings to market a car with an aluminum body and some: its chassis, suspension, and engine – all pretty much aluminum. Its new generation supercharged engine is powerful and refined, delivering up to 380hp with its V6 models and up to 550hp with its V8’s.  And, for the driver with a need for speed, Jaguar claims that the F-Type R can accelerate from 0-100 km in 4.1 seconds.

The F-Type automatic transmission shifts effortlessly and fast and all models feature a deployable spoiler that automatically rises at speeds in excess of 100 km/h to generate up to 120 kg of down force for improved stability.

In traditional Jaguar fashion, the superb cockpit is designed with the driver in mind: excellent visibility, few distractions and “close-to-the-centre-of-gravity seating.”  The surround sound Meridian audio system delivers a choice of 10 or 12 speaker quality sound, and the 8” colour screen navigation and infotainment system allows for easy feature control.

With all the grace and charismatic charm of its namesake, the Jaguar F-Type is the choice sports coupe or convertible for the Preferred driver.
