Polestar announces a second limited-edition “drop” of the Polestar 2 electric fastback – the BST edition 230. Starting with the exceptional chassis modifications developed for ultimate thrills in the BST edition 270 last year, the new BST edition 230 puts more focus on the performance design details.

The new BST edition will be limited to 230 examples for the European and North American markets. “Limited drops like the BST edition 230 allow us to explore colours, graphics and materials in faster and more creative ways,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

As we’ve seen with the success of the BST edition 270 previously, our ability to create unique, limited editions based on the latest trends provides our customers with a level of rarity and customization normally reserved for supercars. This is something we will continue to offer to our customers.

Unique design upgrades for the 476 hp (350 kW) and 502 lb-ft (680 Nm) of  torque Polestar 2 BST edition 230 include an exclusive Green Nebula  exterior paint, a first on any Polestar product. The interior features a microsuede textile for the seats and the steering wheel inserts – made from partly recycled Nubuck – to form an interior entirely unlike any other Polestar 2 on the road. The exterior may also be ordered in Space (black) to give the model a menacing look on any road it may drive, with an optional full-length body stripe available for either body colour.

Full technical details will be revealed later this year, as Bizzarrini will again look to its heritage for powertrain options. Bizzarrini’s work on the Lamborghini V12 provides inspiration, with an exclusive naturally aspirated V12 engine planned. Designed to meet Bizzarrini-specific performance, drivability, emissions compliance and emotional targets, it will be paired with an eightspeed dual-clutch transmission. Development of the powertrain, as well as all engineering aspects of the Giotto will be overseen by newly appointed Bizzarrini, CTO, Chris Porritt, who has led engineering divisions at Aston Martin, Tesla and Rimac.

All the chassis upgrades that were first implemented on the original Polestar  2 BST edition remain the same. Ride height for both is nearly an inch lower than stock, the suspension springs are 20 percent stiffer, and a front strut bar has been added. The specially tuned Öhlins dampers from the edition 270 are back for the edition 230, as are the Pirelli P Zero tires that Polestar says are specifically designed for the BST editions.

The new edition 230 starts at $80,900 US and is available to order at Polestar.com on a first-come, first-serve basis. Deliveries are expected in the third quarter of 2023.

About Polestar

Polestar is a Swedish premium electric vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, and its vehicles are currently available and on the road in markets across Europe, North America, China and Asia Pacific. In Canada, Polestar Spaces are located in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. With these three Spaces, Polestar can service 95% of the Canadian EV market.

Polestar has produced two electric performance cars. The Polestar 1 was built between 2019 and 2021 as a low-volume electric performance hybrid GT with a carbon fiber body, 609 hp, 1,000 Nm and an electric-only range of 124 km (WLTP) – the longest of any hybrid car in the world at the time.

The Polestar 2 electric performance fastback is the company’s first fully electric, high-volume car. The Polestar 2 model range includes three variants with a combination of long- and standard range batteries as large as 78 kWh, and dual- and single-motor powertrains with as much as 350 kW / 476 hp and 680 Nm.

Polestar plans to launch one new electric vehicle per year, starting with Polestar 3 – the company’s first electric performance SUV, which debuted in October 2022. The launch of Polestar 4, a smaller electric performance SUV coupe, is expected in 2023.

In 2024, the Polestar 5 electric performance 4-door GT is planned to be launched as the production evolution of Polestar Precept – the manifesto concept car Polestar released in 2020 that showcases the brand’s future vision in terms of design, technology, and sustainability. As the company seeks to reduce its climate impact with every new model, Polestar aims to produce a truly climate-neutral car by 2030.
